The festival is a good chance to strengthen mutual understanding, tourism, and cultural co-operation between Hanoi and other cities as well as between Vietnam and international friends.

This statement was made by chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Nguyen The Thao, at the Thang Long-Hanoi International Tourism Festival which opened at the Bao Son Paradise Tourism Site in Hanoi on October 2. It is part of the activities to celebrate Thang Long-Hanoi 1,000th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the tourism sector and the National Tourism Year 2010. It aims to promote Vietnam’s tourism potential, and present the country’s unique cultural and tourism products to the international community.

The four-day festival will include various cultural activities with the participation of more than 30 countries and 40 Vietnamese provinces and cities, as well as hundreds of travel agents, art troupes and craft villages.

Visitors will have an excellent opportunity to enjoy attractive images of Hanoi and Vietnam and gain a better understanding about the culture, landscapes, and tourism sites of different countries around the world.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong expressed his hope that the festival will be successful, and create a foundation for the tourism sector to develop rapidly and sustainably in the future.
